District Cooling Plant in Cairo

Kelvion has supplied cooling towers for the HVAC system of a major District Cooling Plant in the desert 45 kilometers east of Cairo in Egypt.

Logistical challenge
The customer selected us, because they could rely on our technical expertise in District Cooling Plants in this region. The design of our Kelvion CMDIF range of wet cooling towers met all the specifications and requirements for this project.

As the location was a logistical challenge for resources, we recruited the help of a local agent to ensure that everything was delivered successfully and on time to meet the project deadline.

Powerful Cooling
Kelvion supplied 16 cells each cell of 150 Sqm, configured in two rows of eight, with a total cooling capacity of 66,000 TR (refrigeration). These counter flow cooling towers, which are more efficient than cross flow models, were supplied with fiberglass reinforced pultruded structures, with stainless steel S316 fixation in a concrete water basin.

The tower structures feature fire-rated polypropylene fills (heat exchange media), with VFD-compatible m
otors, reduction gear and carbon fiber drive shaft for the low noise fans. The tight schedule for this fast-track project was a tough challenge - but the local agent and Kelvion delivered to the site in November 2019 and installation was completed in only three months.

The result
We fulfilled all the customer’s expectations on design, delivery time and installation to their satisfaction.
